My ex boyfriend has a cat that has lived with us and a roommate for a year now. The ex moved out of state leaving the custody of the cat to the roommate. The roommate has until the end of the lease (July) to get herself another place to stay and as it stands, she is most likely going to have to live in her car. I have been paying for the cat’s health and needs during this time. Can I go to court to fight to be the cat’s new owner? Do I need to go to court or can I turn this into a civil dispute?
